The Challenge

Having gained a smattering of general HR experience in recruitment and administration after university, Antonia applied for a role as an HR Assistant with a London-based membership organisation in 2020.  Working in a small team in a busy varied role, Antonia quickly realised becoming CIPD qualified would lead to a greater understanding of HR and improve her future career prospects.

The Solution

After researching several CIPD centres online, Antonia decided that Reed Learning’s CIPD Level 5 course was a suitable fit. “The start date worked well, they offered tutor support, the reviews were positive, and the price was fair,” she remembers.

Antonia opted for our live online workshops to enjoy interactive group learning and started working with her personal tutor Lorraine Bartlett, an experienced HR generalist with over 24 years in retail management. All our CIPD students and apprentices are assisted by an expert adviser throughout their qualification which makes a real difference to their learning journey. Lorraine’s support was particularly appreciated when a serious health issue put Antonia’s studies temporarily on hold.

Lorraine was super helpful. She was very positive and supportive of everything I did. She was flexible and understanding when my personal life got in the way, and she was super quick at replying to emails. She is a very efficient and strong communicator, and I felt really lucky to have her as my tutor as our personalities just worked well together.

Antonia participated in webinars and used the resources on Reed Learning’s Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) to complete each assignment and found the pre-recorded videos particularly useful.

The Results

During her CIPD course, Antonia was promoted to HR Adviser with her current organisation and is putting the skills and knowledge she gained during the qualification in practice at work. She grew in confidence throughout her studies and has a better understanding of HR and best practice in the industry.  She also benefitted from learning new ideas and hearing the experiences of other HR professionals during the webinars.

My experience with Reed Learning has been very positive overall and I would recommend the company to others considering studying for their CIPD. My tutor Lorraine provided fantastic support and I liked the convenience of learning online.

Now with six years in HR generalist roles under her belt plus a CIPD Associate Diploma in People Management, the sky’s the limit for Antonia as she looks to the future and continues to make a difference.
