  2. The rule of law maintains order and protects citizens' rights, providing a stable and just society.

  3. Individual liberty guarantees personal freedoms, allowing people to express themselves and pursue their goals without oppression.

  4. Mutual respect and tolerance for different faiths and beliefs encourage inclusivity and understanding, reducing discrimination and conflict, and helping build a community where everyone feels valued and respected.


Democracy

This value emphasises the importance of a democratic system where individuals have the right to participate in the decision-making processes that affect their lives. It involves fair and free elections, allowing citizens to choose their representatives and have a voice in how they are governed.

Activities the Business School uses to promote British Values

  • Encourage collaboration and promote group learning activities

  • Student surveys and comments boxes

  • Election of Representatives for each awarding body

  • Hot seats with the Business School Operations Director and/or Senior Managers

  • Elect Trustees, who are active members of the Business School


The Rule of Law

This principle ensures that all individuals and institutions are accountable to laws that are fairly applied and enforced. It promotes justice, equality, and protection for all citizens, ensuring that no one is above the law and that everyone receives fair treatment.

  • Disciplinary policy and procedure

  • Staff to wear ID badges and lanyards

  • Student/staff Code of Conduct/behaviour policy

  • Follow procedures for Attendance, Behaviour and encourage learners’ commitment to study via their Apprenticeship Commitment Statement

  • Business School policies i.e. IT policy or No Alcohol policy


Individual Liberty

This value highlights the importance of personal freedoms and rights, allowing individuals to make choices about their lives, beliefs, and expressions. It supports the idea that people should be free to live their lives without undue interference, as long as their actions do not harm others.

  • Health and Wellbeing and Safeguarding blogs and links

  • Encourage active healthy lifestyles all year round

  • Welcome meetings for Apprentices

  • Offer support to learners so they all have equal access to learning


Mutual Respect and Tolerance

This principle encourages respect for and acceptance of those with different faiths, beliefs, and lifestyles. It promotes understanding and harmony within diverse communities, recognising that every individual is entitled to their own beliefs and ways of life, fostering a society where differences are celebrated and respected.
