The Challenge
Roberta Bracey was enjoying a busy role as store manager at Gatwick Airport’s World Duty Free when Covid struck.
Although one of the lucky ones to keep her job when travel was so severely restricted, the global pandemic forced Roberta to evaluate her situation.
Having always enjoyed the people management aspect of her position, she decided to embark on a new career in HR.
Knowing that an HR qualification is a requirement for many jobs in the people profession, Roberta decided to self-fund a Level 3 CIPD programme to improve her skills and knowledge.
Choosing the right training provider is always a major decision and a recommendation from a friend working in HR led Roberta to Reed Learning and her personal adviser, Leanne Till.
Studying for a new qualification while working and looking after a young daughter is always a challenge but Roberta knew that with the right support, she could become CIPD qualified and gain a foothold in the HR profession.
Leanne was amazing. Nothing was too much trouble whether I just wanted to bounce some ideas off her to see if I was on the right track or discuss a topic in more detail, she was always there for me.
She was my adviser for both qualifications and we built up a great deal of trust and rapport. She really did motivate me to keep going and I cannot recommend her highly enough to others.
The Solution
Taking advantage of our fast track studying route, Roberta rapidly progressed through her Level 3 CIPD programme and moved on to tackle her CIPD Level 5 qualification.
Having already achieved her dream of working in the people profession as an HR Adviser with TC Facilities Management, she was rapidly appointed to a HR Business Partner role with the company.
With a new, more senior, role and responsibility for a small team, the pressure was on and Roberta struggled to find the time for her studies. But, thanks to regular support from Leanne and access to the wide range of resources on our Virtual Learning Environment, her knowledge increased and she managed to keep on track.
The Results
Roberta was delighted to complete her Level 5 and achieve CIPD Associate Membership in February 2023. As well as having more confidence, she now has a greater understanding of all aspects of the people profession to help her succeed in her role.
She is now looking forward to studying for her CIPD Advanced Diploma with Reed Learning to help fulfil her ambition to become an HR Director in the future.
My experience of studying with Reed Learning has been excellent from start to finish. At first, I was really apprehensive as I hadn’t studied for 14 years but Leanne immediately put me at ease. Having passed my first module, my mindset changed.
It gave me the confidence that I could 100% do this! Completing both qualifications has given me a real sense of achievement and I’m looking forward to studying for my Level 7.
