The Challenge
Deliver CIPD Advanced Diploma training for leading HR graduate scheme
With over 71,000 employees, different brands, businesses and locations, the Royal Bank of Scotland presents exciting opportunities for anyone looking to forge a career in Human Resources.
The bank has developed an innovative HR graduate scheme which aims to equip participants with the key skills and experiences necessary to become a leading HR professional.
A key component of the graduate scheme is acquiring a nationally-recognised professional qualification in HR. Reed Learning was tasked with the delivery of the CIPD Advanced Diploma to all graduates on the scheme.
I would 100% recommend anyone thinking about undertaking this qualification to just do it. There are so many benefits.
The Solution
A bespoke mix of workshops and online learning with support from a personal tutor
Reed Learning delivers the CIPD Advanced Diploma through a bespoke mix of workshops and online learning, and all candidates are supported throughout their programme by a personal tutor.
Over the two-year graduate scheme, studying for the CIPD qualification while working in HR helps bring their learning to life.
For graduates who may not have studied HR at university, the qualification provides vital theoretical knowledge and new skills to help them excel as HR practitioners.
Our tutors are well connected, knowledgeable, and invested in their students’ work, building strong relationships and supporting students to achieve success.
One of the many graduates to have benefitted from the programme is Lucy Carlile, who was recently offered a permanent role in RBS International.
Currently responsible for a business-wide implementation of Workday, an HR management software system, Lucy excelled throughout her qualification and describes the support she received throughout the programme as ‘absolutely fantastic’.
The Results
Over 50 students successfully achieved CIPD Advanced Diplomas
We’ve helped more than 50 RBS HR graduates successfully completed their CIPD Advanced Diploma.
Graduates have developed key skills and valuable experience, and many have gone on to secure permanent roles at the global bank.
For many, the qualification has proved invaluable for their careers in HR. In Lucy’s case, she has enjoyed studying for her qualification and believes she has gained new skills and knowledge to help her develop as an HR practitioner.
“It has improved my work vastly. I didn’t study HR at university and so have been learning on the job. Having that theoretical knowledge behind HR practice and being able to link the modules to my work has been really useful.”
Attracting, developing, and ultimately retaining the best casetalent is important for all organisations. Including a CIPD Masters level qualification as part of their HR graduate programme presented an appealing proposition for RBS candidates – attracting the best and brightest graduates, and providing a great return on investment.
