Each one of them works hard to ensure their CIPD candidate is supported throughout every step of their qualification. Our advisers really do ensure our business retains that personal touch, something we know our candidates greatly value, so we would like to publicly recognise their contribution to your CIPD success! Here we ask Reed Learning’s regional consultant Elaine Wood for her advice to help you gain that all important CIPD qualification along with what she loves most about her job.
Reed Learning candidates who have Elaine as their adviser will already know that she is passionate about her work. With a background in education and a wealth of management, HR and L&D experience under her belt, Elaine views every candidate as an individual and works hard to create bespoke learning solutions for each one. Her efforts are rewarded by the outstanding feedback she receives from candidates on the independent training review website Coursecheck.
Elaine’s top tip for CIPD success – Step by step, focus on one unit at a time and make yourself a priority!
“Time management skills are really important to your career development and so my advice, particularly to young professionals who want to get on but are always so busy, is to make themselves a priority. If something is a priority it is important to you and you will make the time for whatever it is. Make personal development your priority and you will find the time to study and progress your career.”
Here’s what our candidates say about Elaine:
The high scores are down to the delivery, which is all down to Elaine Wood. It is so clear that Elaine genuinely cares, she wants you to do well and have all the tools and knowledge to succeed. Elaine has made a huge difference to my CIPD experience. Without her guidance, care and support I doubt I would be on track with my learning. Fantastic engagement, delivery and style. Thank you so much.
Lisa White, Level 5 Candidate
Really great workshop with Elaine. Content was targeted towards the assignment, and we had some really good discussions on how to provide relevant evidence. Elaine is very helpful and knowledgeable about the course content, and clearly broke down the learning outcomes in relation to the assignment template. Would recommend!
Rebecca Grubb, Level 5 Candidate
Another fabulous workshop with a great trainer Elaine Wood. Thorough and knowledgeable with plenty of time for reflection and questions. Invaluable addition to the course & faultless delivery. Thank you.
Samantha-Jane Smith, Level 5 Candidate
Elaine is great. She connects with the individuals and communicates to their needs. All topics are covered and time is spent where needed rather than structured allocations.
Emma Banfield Level 5 Candidate
About Elaine
Based in in rural Leicestershire, Elaine joined Reed Learning as a regional consultant. She describes her career to date as a ‘portfolio career’ and whilst her specialism is Learning and Development, she has also had wide ranging experience in senior management and HR roles. However, it is her background in adult education, with a PGCE in Management (Education) that informs her pedagogical approach, giving her an additional insight into how people learn best. She brings this expertise to the design of the workshops she delivers at Reed Learning and the individual candidates and apprentices she supports.
Elaine uses a range of strategies to suit different learning styles and she also facilitates peer learning, encouraging candidates to establish a network and support each other away from the workshop.
A CIPD assessor and internal verifier for six years, Elaine works with levels 3 and 5 CIPD candidates and HR and L&D apprentices at Reed Learning. She loves the fact that there is never a dull moment in her role as a regional consultant, but her real job satisfaction comes from keeping in touch with her students on LinkedIn and hearing about their success stories as their career progresses.
Elaine’s passion for developing professionals shines through in everything she does at Reed Learning. From ensuring that everything learnt in the classroom is relatable and relevant to the next assignment to maintaining regular contact with her individual candidates and apprentices, Elaine certainly epitomises Reed Learning’s personal approach to learning and development.
