Our advisers are very special individuals with an abundance of industry experience and a genuine interest in the development of others. Each one of them works hard to support their CIPD candidates throughout every step of their qualification. Our advisers really do ensure our business retains that personal touch, something we know candidates greatly value. This regular feature publicly recognises their contribution to your CIPD success!
We have asked Louise Hill, our senior consultant based in Manchester, for her advice to help you gain that all important CIPD qualification along with what she loves most about her job.
Louise’s top tip for CIPD success …Develop a study plan and stick to it!
“From my experience, the most successful students are those who introduce a study plan right at the start and work out how they can stick to it throughout their qualification.
Planning when and where you are going to study helps to keep the momentum going. Taking long gaps from studying can create problems later on. And don’t forget to keep in touch with your adviser.”
Here’s what our candidates say about Louise
Louise Hill, was exceptional. Available to talk, patient, and provided insights and knowledge on every module. Kenneth McPhail, Advanced candidate
“I simply do not believe I could have completed the course without the team at Reed Learning. I must also praise and thank Louise Hill for her overall support, her ability to offer extremely constructive feedback, and without whom I would not have progressed as much and enough to pass.” Francois-Xavier Renou, Intermediate candidate
My trainer Louise Hill was fantastic she supported me throughout, happy to answer questions I had and also went through in great detail assignment specifications and suggested areas of study. I haven’t studied for over 20 years so this was quite a challenge for me, but with her help and course content I am now CIPD qualified and have increased my knowledge base and working methods no end – thank you.” Caroline Grant, Advanced candidate
About Louise
Louise is one of Reed Learning’s most longstanding consultants and supports candidates at all three CIPD levels. A qualified adviser and assessor with an MSc in Organisational Psychology and PhD in Experimental Psychology, Louise’s special expertise is in evidence based HR although with a career background in L&D she enjoys working with candidates from both disciplines.
Originally from the north east but now based in Manchester, Louise began her career as a business analyst on a graduate training scheme but swapped to HR after realising she preferred working with people to IT systems. After a career break to study for her Masters she joined a leadership development consultancy where she worked with large corporate companies. During that time she worked in HR and project management roles for clients and internally, and as a Knowledge Architect responsible for coordinating the development of new leadership programmes as well as disseminating information throughout the team.
Louise joined Reed Learning in 2010 and has seen the company grow from strength to strength. Managing client relationships is a key part of her role and she is responsible for the delivery of the CIPD Advanced Diploma to candidates on several corporate HR graduate training schemes.
More recently she has led the drive to convert many of our programmes to online delivery and is currently busy developing additional materials to help candidates progress more quickly through their qualification.
Louise enjoys getting to know her candidates and advising and supporting their work. She finds it interesting to hear about their work environments, challenges and HR practices. She is able to draw upon her own experience within HR and L&D to bring the best out of her candidates and support their professional development.
