The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) are running a national recruitment campaign ‘Every day is different when you care’, which aims to encourage more people to consider a career in adult social care.
Despite the volume of innovative services in the industry, one of the biggest challenges the care sector faces is keeping up with the volume of workers required. The latest figures suggest that there are currently more than 110,000 vacancies in adult social care and 650,000 workers will be needed by 2035 to keep up with rising number of people aged 65 and over.
In response to these shortages, The DHSC has launched the ‘every day is different when you care’ campaign which will be running throughout February and March 2019. The national recruitment drive aims to:
Improve understanding of the caring profession
Inspire people to make a career change into care
Encourage people to return to a career in care
Help to connect carers with jobs, education, training and further opportunities
There is huge demand for more care professionals who work incredibly hard, looking after the most vulnerable in our society. We must spread the word that careers in adult social care are rewarding, varied and worthwhile.

The campaign will centre on a dedicated resource site everydayisdifferent.com, and include digital, social media and radio advertising as well as a series of national and regional events run by Skills for Care, delivery partner to the DHSC.
The campaign will focus on how rewarding a career in social care can be, as well as highlighting the progression and development opportunities. Advertising will feature case studies on real care workers and those they support.
