Reed’s 2020 sales salary guide highlights some of the key trends in the UK sales sector over the last 12 months – and looks to give insight into what patterns may be emerging in 2021.
Using data gathered from 2.7 million jobs posted last year on reed.co.uk, the sales guide provides a comprehensive picture for some of the most prominent jobs in the industry.
It looks at sales jobs across 12 UK regions and features wage information on roles such as, telesales managers, commercial directors, technical sales, internal sales, and many more.
When deciding how much to offer a candidate, compare what other sales employers in your region are paying their workers: account executives in the capital, for example, are receiving 10.3% higher salaries for their work than the previous year.
In Wales, account manager salaries jumped by 5.4% this year, yet only increased slightly in Yorkshire and Humberside (0.7%).
Salaries for sales engineer roles decreased by 1.5% in the East Midlands, but increased by 7.9% in the North East and 5.6% in Scotland.
Account director salaries dropped in North West England (3%), the West Midlands (2%) and Northern Ireland (5.9%), but rose by 2.2% in the South East.
Business development managers earned 1% less in the South West than last year, but saw their salaries increase by 7.6% in East Anglia.
Competitive salary, commission and benefits have always driven sales candidates - it’s important that businesses also offer additional benefits to compete. More firms are offering flexible and remote working, which all companies should consider implementing for a chance to hire the best talent.
