With a high youth unemployment rate and students left disadvantaged by the pandemic, effective careers education has never been more important.
That’s why we’ve developed our ‘Gateway to work’ solution to help level the playing field – a five-step work readiness e-learning programme designed to help students successfully enter the world of work.
During the e-learning course each student will have the opportunity to work through five key modules to build their skills, knowledge, and confidence, ready to begin their career.
Students will have the opportunity to identify suitable career options, complete a virtual work experience placement, build an effective CV and more.
For teaching staff, the inbuilt coaching functionality helps to facilitate effective one-to-one conversations with students. To help maintain student engagement, we also provide supporting assembly and classroom-based resources.
Your dedicated account manager will help set you up for success with onboarding support and monthly reporting on student progress.
The programme
Module one: Working on you – students will build skills in self-reflection, self-awareness and self-efficacy to drive confidence and clarity about their future choices
Module two: Virtual work experience – students will explore different roles through virtual work experience in authentic situations, at real companies
Module three: Choose your pathway – students will discover the different work, training, and further education options available to them, and reflect on the right pathway either independently or with a teacher or career coach. They will have access to the latest labour market data to help them make decisions about their future
Module four: Upskill in your field – students will focus on the skills they need to prepare for work, and will have access to a wide choice of online courses
Module five: Get ready to work – students will start preparing their CV, experience a mock interview, and reflect on and initiate their career action plan
The Reed difference
We know that good careers education resources for students can be hard to come by. And because of this, we want to help teaching staff prepare their students for the transition into the workplace by sharing our unique insight into all things jobs and employability in a simple, digestible curriculum.
We’ve been recruiting for over 60 years, nationwide, across 20 different specialist sectors, so we know what it takes to get a job. We’ve built ‘Gateway to work’ with our recruitment specialists, combining the best expertise from across our network on everything from CV writing to interview techniques.
Your students will get the opportunity to experience a half day virtual work experience with some of the UK's top companies. This could be in their finance team, marketing department, sales department, or customer services team - there are plenty of options to choose from!
You will be supported throughout by your dedicated customer success manager. They will ensure you get up and running with a full onboarding process, and provide monthly usage reports, to help you stay on track and ensure students are getting the most out of the programme.
