Both Elaine and Cherry discussed their career to date, including how they got into the security industry and obtained the senior positions they are both currently in, as well as the key opportunities and obstacles the industry threw at them along the way. They also delved into the soft skills needed to flourish in the world of cyber.

Elaine Carlyle, Head of Security and Data Protection, Disclosure Barring Service
Elaine is a civil servant who has worked in various departments at the Home Office throughout her career. Her current role as Head of Security at Disclosure Barring Service stemmed from her passion for information security and data protection. She has 22 years of experience in developing and delivering cyber security and data protection services in the public sector.
Cherry Colby, Head of Information Security, Acorn Insurance
Cherry is a motivated information security professional with proven experience in leading teams that deliver practical support and advice. Cherry works as the Head of Information Security within the insurance sector and is skilled in designing and delivering pragmatic frameworks that effect positive change including security culture.
She also holds a particular interest and expertise in strategic planning, risk management, assurance programmes, policy and advisory and holds a qualification in privacy management.
